I visited Ethiopia with my brother whose birth parents were immigrants from Ethiopia/Eritrea. It’s a gorgeous country, wonderful people and a rich, long history (the cradle of civilization). Very happy to see

They fled due to the war between the two countries almost 30 years ago and lost everything. I’m glad they came to Canada though. Before his mom died she asked my mom to raise him and help him go home to visit. I was proud yo be able to share that experience with him.pic.twitter.com/PmHQ9R33Bd

I remember those devastating pics of Ethiopians, thin and hungry, trying to survive, war and famine. This man worked tirelessly for peace. Congrats.
