Honestly? Daphne.
Her redesign from fan character to normal deer was only intended as a one-off exercise for fun, but I wound up liking her, and she quickly evolved into the fun chaos gremlin she is today.

Like Peter says, people in his and Mary's world view non-anthropomorphic critters the same way we'd think of apes and monkeys: distantly related, wild cousins on different branches of the same evolutionary tree.
