If I started a modern YC, it would look like @pioneerdotapp + @startupschool + @joininteract, but I would go all-in on being outside the valley and being much more flexible in terms of funding terms.

This is interesting to the local communities bc these entrepreneurs attract fellow creatives w/ them. Brewers, artisan bakers, coffee shops, etc flock to the same areas to satisfy the new demand that the cohorts bring. Not to mention the potential economic impact of the business

A good example of this impact can be seen with a company called http://carrot.com They exist in a small town in Oregon. They now have annual ReOcRev of 10 mill plus. That small town’s downtown is starting to BOOM as a direct result of Carrot’s success. Good case study.

Love the take, Skylar. I 100% agree smaller towns need to be incredibly innovative to attract + retain talent. I think the most interesting trend in the space is smaller cities creating incentives for remote workers.https://www.reuters.com/article/us-usa-cities-population-idUSKCN1SE21U …
