If you want to learn about 4chan + 8chan, their long history of misogyny & racism & how not listening to the women who reported their abuse has led us to the current political moment, start here: https://twitter.com/BriannaWu/status/1274343193228840966?s=20 …https://twitter.com/PriyamvadaGopal/status/1276043928949620737 …

I'm posting some of the greatest hits received overnight, then making an announcement at 9am before taking my two day weekly break from Twitter. What we now know is that much of this attack is from a site called 4chan (?) which is co-ordinating it. So targetted racist hate.

If People on twitter especially Women looking for answers to all the sexism on Social Media; this is the twitter feed to read. It explains why Professor @wmarybeard received the vile responses sent to her plus @stephenfry that lead or Bro to stop tweeting.

If you want to learn about the long history of misogyny in IT (as in all the way back to before WW2), read @proginequality's book: https://mitpress.mit.edu/books/programmed-inequality … GamerGate, 4chan, etc. were pretty much the inevitable outcome of fencing-off IT as the domain of hetero white males.
