    So pleased for my studio buddies at Edinburgh in seeing their Primark Kingston project come to completion. It is, I think, a really considered piece of contextually appropriate, high street retail architecture.

    A cautionary tale...

    Took my shoes off on the train to newcastle while i napped cos im that sort of guy and when i woke up someone has stolen them. All the shops are shut obviously. I'm meant to be on stage in 30 mins

    If you squint a bit, the finished article is pretty close to the intended vision...

    Look what you could have won... what happened here ? There's a slight discrepancy between that intended and that wot be delivered? Interested to know who lost their nerve given it was originally procured through an competition

    Week in, week out I try make the students understand that every line they draw affects other people. To understand the power they have through design to affect and influence others’ daily experience. To empathise that that could be them, to therefore do things well.

    The ninety-year-old architect Balkrishna Doshi, who won this year’s Pritzker Prize, believes that architecture should be informed by empathy.

    For us developing a design culture means making Scotland a place where designers feel welcome. Where high quality design is regularly commissioned + celebrated and where a National Design Programme will promote Scottish design as a cultural export.
