A1. Being policed behind bars works as a violent attack on us as a WHOLE. 1. Mind- no education, classes, support 2. physical body- bad food, lockdowns, poor healthcare 3. Soul/spirit- no inspiration, motivation All aspects of what makes us human is violated intentionally.
A1: How does it feel to see how my loved one is policed behind bars? He can’t laugh loudly at my jokes. He can’t touch a vending machine to retrieve our purchase, he can’t say hello to a vendor, he can’t sit too closely, hold my hand too long, or wrap me in his arms when I cry.
A1. It’s having to watch your mother be dehumanized by visiting guards just for being connected to you. It’s seeing your mother cry because they yelled at her and made her go back out and change her clothes into something less dignified. It’s not being able to do anything.
