Comparing Pets to Amazon .com. In 1999, the pet industry was nearly $30B/year. Book sales were HALF at ~$14B. You couldn't make the argument that books were a better industry for e-commerce than pets.

So in the late '90's, why SHOULDN'T Pets .com receive a higher valuation than Amazon because it was in a larger industry? No one knew Bezos could turn Amazon into what it's become. If Bezos was running Pets .com, I can't see why it wouldn't have become what Amazon is today.
