It is currently operating w/ centralized checkpoints, referred to as "the coordinator." Yet to be seen if network will be secure w/o them.

Anyone can attack any network. The question is whether they will succeed. The
$iota founders have addressed this numerous times. It won't. -
We will find out when they turn off the coordinator. It is all theoretical at this point.

$EOS will eat ETH. that’s inherent problem with all blockchains.
