did you read the Intercept article? Amazon is getting subsides so that they pay living wages. but they end up not paying enough and then their employees depend on food stamps. here’s my question: do you want to pay for the food stamps as a tax payer or have Amazon pay it?

no. they are all related. check my original post. bottom line: Amazon should pay living wages because they are getting big subsidies from the govt. it’s a simple equation.

is so childish about that? you are handwaving that fact that other big companies (like Costco) are already paying employees living wages, while not receiving big subsides from govt. that’s why you don’t hear people complaining about Costco.

my original point is for Amazon to pay enough (whether in wages or taxes) so that we as tax payers don’t subsidize their food stamps. what is so childish about that?

anyone who has a full time job in America should not depend on food stamps. if we have Universal Basic Income then we’ll have a different conversation. but we don’t. so my point stands.
