will you allow your 5-year old to leave your family just because he/she wants to? i’m referring to responsible parenting.
-
-
No five year old would want to leave responsible peaceful parents. That hypothetical self donates.
-
no citizen would want to leave a peaceful country ran by responsible government/governance.
-
Agreed. But so far, all governments are run irresponsibly through theft, and violence. To further the analogy, most parenting is bad parenting as well. Just not as bad, or at the scale, as governments.
-
any large group of community will have theft and violence, if not amongst themselves then amongst other communities. the best we can do is reduce suffering through good governance, or opt out of large communities and live in a sustainable tribe, in peace.
-
Less excusing of bad ethics. And more discussions on how to build good ethics.
-
it’s not excusing bad ethics. it’s an opinion based on historical facts. human history is filled with violence from tribes, kingdoms/empires, to countries. you can have good governance in your tribe but it’s only a matter of time until another tribe tries to take your resources.
-
best way to build good ethics is to start with one’s self and grow it from there. hopefully from egocentric, to ethnocentric, to worldcentric.
-
Definitely agree with that. :-)

Guardianship is not a dictatorship.
-
that’s how governments see themselves — Guardians.

I'm not a child and am capable making my own decisions. And they aren't a guardian, they're a parasite.
-
good luck not paying your taxes then

-
Um, that's exactly my point. You're not free if someone else has claim to your labor. Sorta like, y'know, a slave.
