When we criticise IOTA, they're all "why are you focusing on IOTA"? When we don't, it's "why so silent"?https://twitter.com/c4chaos/status/1003896918706085888 …

I’d skip the coordinator. There’s no point in having a cryptocurrency if it relies on a single trusted point of truth. Of course, I’d also build my cryptocurrency so its consensus mechanism was self-regulating, unlike IOTA’s, so it’d be much less vulnerable to 51% attacks.

The coordinator is about finality, not about permissionlessness/decentralization. Ask
@VitalikButerin or@VladZamfir about the difference, you (as a "classical" engineer) may not know these nuances. -
If you don’t care about permissionlessness or decentralisation, why not just skip the network and run everything through the coordinator directly? If you keep up the insults, though, I may end up simplifying my life and adding you to the ignore list.

This coo obsession is ridiculous. Getting rid of coo goes hand in hand with adoption. So saying you believe it cant be removed actually means you believe it wont be adopted. So whats the point with any crypto then if it does not get adopted anyway? Coo would be your least concern
-
I both don't believe Iota will see widespread adoption, and don't believe the coordinator could be removed even if it did. Is it that surprising that people criticize a cryptocurrency for being dependent on a single trusted party to operate?
-
Adoption is perhaps slow at least partially because of the centralized point of trust in the COO, where actual users value trust minimization and decentralization. Because adoption is slow you can’t get rid of the COO. Vicious cycle.pic.twitter.com/FQ2EkBtiRJ

Dont agree. First of all coo is only security centralization. System is permissionless and data is spread over participants. I think that full decentralization is a holy grail, but dont see why it can not be helped with slight centralized features in the beginning as it grows.

Funnily enough, nearly every other cryptocurrency has managed to do just fine without a central node that approves all transactions.
