It’s still pre-launch. Bitcoin had major bugs after launch. I say this not to defend EOS, but to defend experimentation and innovation. A pre-launch bug is not something to be ashamed of.
Ari. Stop. Difference between '09 bitcoin pre Lazlo pizza and an $11bn pre-launch token network. Does blocktower have a position?
Yes, there’s a difference in how much money people poured into EOS. That doesn’t change the dynamics of engineering innovation. I disclose potential conflicts of interest when speaking well or badly of a project. This is just using EOS as an example; I’ve said the same of ETH etc
2/ this has nothing of do with EOS. My comment is purely about how it’s foolish to criticize a testnet for a bug. That’s what testnets are *for.*
3/ and as another commenter noted, major bugs were found in Monero, Bitcoin, and many other leading protocols long after they were live with real money. You’re applying a weird double standard.

Pretty sure those projects were not capitalized at nearly the same level as EOS. I find it fascinating that (AFAICT) there was no bug bounty program until this recent revelation, even though billions have been raised.https://twitter.com/bytemaster7/status/1001228283843895296 …
Jameson Lopp added,
Capitalization doesn’t change the fact that new code has to be tested to find bugs. Testnets exist for that purpose.
Ari is right. those who have worked on IT know that throwing money on software development doesn’t make it immune to bugs. it takes iterations to create complex software. Bitcoin maximalists should know this. and btw, $EOS bugs were quickly fixed.
also #Bitcoin is less complex than $EOS. less-complexity is a *feature* of Bitcoin. and yet screwups and bugs existed on its mainnet. it took years to battletest Bitcoin and make it what it is today. so throwing stones from glass houses much?
