The secret to it is there's not as much pressure on you as you think, so don't push where you don't need to. Upgrade to bugs when you can and you'll soon be able to afford everything. Don't worry about running out of days...

I did read a guide on Steam that mentioned about no time limit (the music is TRICKSY so I turned it down). Bugs too! I made it up to Casino for the first time, which is the level before last I think? Never got very far, and I make so many silly mistakes! Usually step on a mine.
