My “cognitive bias cheat sheet” post from a year-and-a-half ago just passed 1 million views! 📈🎉🔥 Woah. Thoughts:

My 5 tips for making better resolutions: (A re-run but it’s an article I revisit every year so might as well re-share it too. Retweet for good luck in 2019. Best regards.)

I feel like many of us suffer our problems alone and it doesn’t need to be that way. We just forget to ask.

Do you have a problem you’re having trouble thinking through and would like to get a friendly outsider’s thoughts on? Public/private, professional/personal, on the phone/email/messaging are all options. Reply here or DM me and we can figure out what works.

I’m for the inner voices that yell sage advice at me when cognitive dissonance happens.

More argument fails: flat contradiction and refuting the weakest points.

Ghosts may or may not be tortured souls forced to haunt the Earth fruitlessly attempting to resolve impossible conflicts, but that doesn’t mean we have to share their fate. 👻

It's such a perfect playground to practice productive conflict on, I've found. Every conversation I've had with a ghost-believer since I started interviewing people a year ago has been so surprising and insightful in a bunch of different ways.

I don't believe in ghosts myself, not even a little bit. And have gotten into some heated debates about it over the years with some of my closest friends. So... the challenge has been, can we have a fruitful debate about ghosts without trying to change minds?

I've been excited to write my chapter about arguing about ghosts for a long time. It looks like today is the day that I start! A year ago I did a bunch of interviews with ghost believers and was fascinated by the variety of different flavors of ghost that people had encountered.

Are there any online destinations designed for in-depth discussion of articles, books, and ideas across a broad range of topics? I find myself spending lots of time spinning up small pop-up communities that I’m pretty sure have existed hundreds of times before.

Is it worth expanding the disagreement hierarchy to include good and bad strategies for disagreeing about those things well? i.e. stonewalling, appealing to authority, mobbing, considering that maybe you're wrong and should understand the different perspectives better, etc...
