@burntsushi5 GNU grep has a -o option which is handy at times. Does ripgrep have something that works similarly?

By the way, I think that bytecount might benefit – in some uncommon situations – from multithreading (e.g. via rayon). What do you think?

And parallelizing single file search would include using bytecount from multiple threads simultaneously, presumably.
