Anyway, what I do is just close the lid and open it again until it works. But seems like if your trick works is waaay better if you do not use thunderbolt.

Yup so far so good. `sudo rmmod thunderbolt`. If you do use thunderbolt, maybe try that but then `sudo modprobe thunderbolt` when you want to use thunderbolt. Could maybe even add a systemd hook to do it automatically on suspend/resume.
