This is really sad to read; one of Rust's largest HTTP framework maintainers questioning why they even bother after getting piled on by the Rust Reddit. Not the first time we're seeing this, and probably also not the last.https://www.reddit.com/r/rust/comments/ce09id/comment/etytgat …

If behavior is driving people away, we should take note.

Yeah. Like I never will use Actix due to their dismissive behavior, but it doesn't mean being a dick to them is okay.

Tbh if someone was trying to drag my project the way it was done to them I too may have been dismissive of their "suggestions".

Yeah dragging? Not good, but it's not the first time and they've got a reputation outside rust that's a bit of the 10x engineer. So I don't agree with how people have treated them. I just also know of examples outside Rust that makes me go "ah yes this again" if that makes sense

I don't want people to get burned out. I do want people to consider what they make.

I agree with you in that this is not an isolated incident. The code of conduct is not strict enough.

That's the kind of situation where someone is being bullied publicly and we're all looking in an awkward way at each other, hoping someone else will step in and sort this out. We can not stay silent and watch it happen. It will set precedence and (rightfully) scare the community.

@mbrubeck@llogiq@burntsushi5 is there anything the moderation team can do wrt what's going on in /r/rust wrt actix-web? Is it considered harassment? If so would it be in the scope of what the moderation team can help with?1 reply 0 retweets 2 likes
The Rust moderators don't have jurisdiction over r/rust, although there is some overlap (I am not an r/rust mod). If you want to discuss further please elaborate in an email to the Rust mods: rust-mods@rust-lang.org
