Why are all these issues closed... https://github.com/Microsoft/vscode/issues/55 … has anybody actually used vscode on a non trivial codebase before? (also if you switch focus the search stops running, which is all kinds of hilarious)
Disk IO is unlikely. Your file system provides the cache. If you can come up with a reproducible performance issue using ripgrep directly (not through VS code), the I'd be happy to field a bug report.

I'm pretty sure it's not rg to be clear. vscode seems to be spawning multiple rg instances when it does the search, which sounds very wrong. And by disk IO I really mean that it's doing the directory walk / globbing every time. Regardless of disk caching it's a lot of work.
