Chrome + VS Code + Docker will gobble up almost all of my memory and cpu alone. How does anyone get anything done?
You point ripgrep at a directory, and it tries to search it as fast as possible. That's it. If you want your searches to run more slowly, then ask the VS Code maintainers for an option to force ripgrep into single threaded mode, which means <100% of your CPU.

Right, I'm not confused at how ripgrep works, nor am I blaming it for VS Code's perf issues. The confusion is that sometimes it's just running in the background, spawned by Code.
