I'm curious how that will work out for you. When I tried zsh first I was impressed, but e.g. those completions started to annoy me quickly. I can't stand things "popping up", like IDEs inserting matching parens or suddenly showing argument names in function calls. Too irritating.

I don't use or want completions when writing code either. Honestly, zsh completions aren't doing much more than what bash completions do in terms of visual display, so that part doesn't bug me.

Have you looked at fish?
-
Not more than in passing, no. I'm happy enough with zsh right now.

Still a bit behind the times, I switched from bash to zsh to fish :). If you get tired of configuring zsh I can recommend fish!

Hah. My zsh config is actually smaller than my bash config. I very rarely change it once it's set.

Yep I moved over a few years ago and haven't looked back. oh-my-zsh is one of the first things I reach for when reloading a machine
-
Ah. No oh-my-zsh for me! I looked at it but felt overwhelmed! I started with vanilla zsh and read the docs until I knew how to convert my bashrc and configure completion just the way I like it. :-) I had some help from a zsh expert along the way though. :-)
