Oh neat! Ill have a look in the next week (just finished up a huge project). Intersting mmap works for you, both @burntsushi5 and I found the opposite https://blog.burntsushi.net/ripgrep/ and https://boyter.org/posts/sloc-cloc-code/ … for both Rust and Go.
Indeed. Memory maps were specifically regressive when crawling large directories. They can be better on a smaller number of large files.

One thing I didn’t try is mmap’s on an uncached file system. I doubt it would make a difference but I never actually tried.
