Damn. What about no short flag?

That was my original intention. But after actually trying to use it, it was clear that I wanted a short flag pretty badly. It's one of those things you might not use at first, and then you go back to your command and tweak it. Having a short flag for that is nice.

I voted for -U because it follows the convention for how to resolve collisions when specifying an Alt+letter accelerator key for menus and the like and that appeals to me.

Another reason I don't like -X is that both -x and -X are commonly used for eXclude-related things. Typically, one being a subset of ripgrep's -g and the other being "don't cross filesystem boundaries".
