How to deal with metal fatigue when applying conductive material over bent paper on a moving design? Flat copper won't like the dynamic, maybe woven copper & polyester threads over paper, like on headphone cables?

We've got conductive fabric tape patches for "live hinges": https://amzn.to/2K8IV3c . They are made out of a nickel-plated polyester-copper weave and laminated with a conductive nickel-acrylic adhesive, so they can just tape over the joint and reinforce the connection.pic.twitter.com/YcuoqJNayr

...how does the paper NOT burn on contact with hot metal?
-
I've never had paper burn on me while soldering...push & hold a soldering iron tip directly to paper and it chars/browns a bit. Then again, I have a temperature-controlled iron. But when you're soldering copper tape, most of the heat goes into the copper, so the paper is shielded

I love this. However, I really struggle with being mechanically skilled (and patience) enough to do copper tape. Have you tried anything with paper cutting stencil machines or other "more automated" methods? Feel like you could really potentially do full "paper based PCBs"....

I have heard of some people have using cnc vinyl cutters to make pcbs. I also imagine you could use it to cut out some fussy bits like just the breakouts if you're not sure about the circuit yet.

Grid paper is even better :D we used a plotter to cut copper tape sections for a project using WS2812's a while back. These babies were then rolled up and then stuffed into a bicycle handle :)

hey graphite in pencils is a good conductor and great to draw on paper.

Awesome! Looks kind of finicky with those small smd parts. I wonder if the adhesive of copper tape survives, if you make a circuit with, say, SO-16 ICs.
