If your laptop has been continuously plugged in, do a gas gauge reset (if it supports that) or manually fully discharge and recharge the battery. If your system supports it, set it to a stop-charge level of about 65%.

Lithium batteries work by shuttling lithium atoms from one electrode to another and cramming them into various nooks and crannies. The idea is to avoid "stretching" one electrode out of shape for too long by leaving it in a constant state of 0% or 100% charge.

Ideally, the atoms are distributed roughly half/half, and you're gently shuffling them every now and then to prevent processes that promote crystallization. This will help ensure your travel gadgets are still there for you in the 'after times' when we can leave home again!
