I've seen human eyes checking even in high volume, fwiw...it's pretty standard. But good test patterns are key (R/G/B/checker/H line/V line/all on/all off) that make bad pixels stand out. Gamma is much, much trickier, if you have to calibrate for every unit...
How about wifi? My hardware needs a client app on an android phone to be tested, I can build in a simple rssi check, but range/ directionality? How do you balance reasonable vs. thorough
