I was planning the easy test pattern route especially since it's going to be modest volumes. But still need more info for displays to properly check my gamma correction curves while accounting for varying ambient light.
I've seen human eyes checking even in high volume, fwiw...it's pretty standard. But good test patterns are key (R/G/B/checker/H line/V line/all on/all off) that make bad pixels stand out. Gamma is much, much trickier, if you have to calibrate for every unit...
Also loved the gamification bit, I'd put a pwm speaker, a joystick and 4 WS2812's, now I know what to do with them :D
