Product testing is a tedious but necessary part of hardware development. Here's what I've learned so far: https://www.bunniestudios.com/blog/?p=5450 pic.twitter.com/Lig46K1kKk

Love the piece! Bringing up my first test jig right now and this is invaluable. <3 :D How do you make testing of visual features (display/camera) automated/easy while being cheap/less prone to human error? @bunniestudios

That is a tricky one and it depends on the resolution/type of display and camera. You can use some machine vision to try to resolve but at high resolutions this can be unreliable. The usual fallback is human-friendly test patterns and eyes to pick out dead/stuck pixels.

Why didn't you just use a YouTube video which would have had a better loading time.

This is a fantastic article. I like the phrasing "the product behind the product." I give a talk on this topic called "The engineering after the engineering." Seasoned engineers design products with manufacturing testing in mind but it's still a huge and neglected effort.

Seriously. Scan guns are like 100¥. At *least* make your shell script a QR code. 🙃

anyone reading the article used openhtf? I'm just taking a look at it now. https://github.com/google/openhtf  - "designed to remove as much boilerplate as possible from hardware test setup and execution"
