Not really into the whole good / bad best / worst dynamic - and truth is there's lots of the canon we need to reevaluate from a "this is fucked up" position - and lots from the forgotten outsider artists / non white men we need to put in the canonhttps://twitter.com/leehenaghan/status/1260830327137656832 …

I realise this is a slightly frustrated tweet but I swear every now and then film twitter decides to respond to simple, easy to parse, just for fun questions with grandstanding about how "film is a subjective medium with so much nuance" when it's not required.

what would you get out of an answer like, "Psycho" or "Some Like It Hot" that you didn't get in his more interesting and nuanced response? why must he be uncharacteristically reductive otherwise he's "grandstanding"? i just can't wrap my mind around this take.

Maybe it's because they're sick and tired of people asking them that particular question because it's invariably asked by some internet dipshit hoping to kick off a rage storm in the replies when the critic dunks on an overrated movie a lot of people felt passionately about.

The question wasn't "that you didn't like" it was "what's the worst". That's a very different beast to answer, and I can't see many people wanting to label someone's art "the worst" so publicly with so little room for explanation.
