"unable to recover the data lost during this 2 hour period. This means you will likely continue to see slightly lower views and watch time numbers in your watch time reports for Dec 19.” Does this also mean ad plays and revenue are permanently lost during this period?

Tbh its two hours. It wont be a huge issue unless you uploading a video during or a few hours before this happened.

On small channel like ours, it doesn't make that much of a difference, on a channel like
@Thinknoodles , it could be 10's of thousands of views. When that is part of how you take care of your family, it is a much bigger issue.1 reply 0 retweets 3 likes -

It would be like your parents boss telling them, there was a problem in accounting last week, so you wont get paid for one day. Sorry. Even though you here and did all the work you normally do, we just can't get the computer to pay you. Your parents would be upset. Trust me.

That analogy isnt completely right. Although i dont know his actual average views per hour, i quickly went to his socialblade and got around 60k views for around 2 hours. Even with good CPM he probably couldnt have earned more than more than $150 from that amount of views...

Only $150? Oh, I have that in my couch cushions. Remember this conversation, when for some reason when your older, your paycheck is short. It's ONLY $150. Also large channel have higher CPM''s, so it's probably not ONLY $150

I know 150 is a bunch to me but to him it probably isnt. I got 150 from already accounting the high cpm since he gets around 60k views in two hours. Also, this happened in the morning and because the majority of his audience is american kids, it was probably less than 60k views.

Also, youre always getting cash from as long as youre always getting views so youtube couldnt be comparable to a 9 to 5 job. Then again, i dont know how many views he lost, what his exact cpm is and the exact timeframe. Im basing all my statements on stuff not too detailed...

... all im saying is, a 2 hour period in the morning for a channel with almost 4 million subscribers shouldnt be that big of a loss.

You’re missing the overall point here. This was a global loss of accounting for two hours, across ALL channels on Youtube. We’re talking about billions upon billions of views totaling millions of dollars of revenue possibly unaccounted for.
