Since launching the On Deck Fellowship program 6 months ago, the progress has been astounding. Two cohorts in the books, dozens of companies incorporated and funded, & hundreds of new friendships formed. Apps for cohort 3 are now live! Learn more at 🚀

One of the things I love most about the community is when dozens of alumni from past Fellowship cohorts volunteer to help interview hundreds of candidates for the upcoming one. We try to match them by skillset & interests, often resulting in some awesome serendipity :)

This of course extends beyond Kobe, and into the lives of all of us. People aren’t immortal. Let those you care about know how you really feel about them while they’re still here to hear it.

Kobe won’t ever see every NBA team honor him by taking #24 sec shot clock, and #8 sec backcourt violations. Kobe won’t ever see the Mavs retire and hang his jersey in the rafters. Kobe won’t ever see buildings around the world lit up in purple and gold lights in commemoration..

Kobe won’t get to witness the millions of people sharing touching stories of how he changed their lives, and how he has inspired the world as a role model of what it means to be a world-class father, leader, and athlete.

Something that has bothered me for awhile: it’s often not until someone dies that the outpouring of love happens. Why wait until a person passes to write an obituary & share how we really feel? Why wait to reminisce on your favorite stories together until after they’re gone?...

I wonder if the Stripe Atlas team ends their all-hands meetings with a chant of: "2, 4, 6, 8, who do we Incorporate!" 🎵 Ok I'll see myself out... 🚪🚶‍♂️

I was recently presented with a 5-page Mutual Friendship Agreement (MFA) by one of my closest friends. Loaded with terms such as mandatory quarterly goal accountability peer reviews, confidentiality, etc. Now THAT is friendship... 🥰 lol
