There is not a red state version of ALS and a blue state version of ALS. There is only ALS. There is not a pro-ALS group and anti-ALS group, there is 1 movement to end ALS. We speak with different words but seek the same future. We fight for each other and will be the cure.

When you battle a terminal illness you celebrate all victories, big or small, and all days, good or bad.

One lesson from the last year: telling your story in a open and honest, raw and vulnerable, embellishment-free way is among the most incredibly liberating and difficult things to do. We should as a society do it more often.

While we wait for the Iowa results just want to offer this obvious thought: good people are amazing and make life incredible. No matter what happens with my ALS fight I will always feel lucky to have been surrounded by so many of them.

Just walked down another @united jet bridge to board a flight to DC. Each time I make that walk I go a bit slower but a bit more certain that we can and will end ALS. The future is ours to shape, let’s make it beautiful.

I was asked by my four year old to be her date to the princess ball. I replied, “are sure?” She responded, “oh yes. Everyone is bringing a prince and your mine.” I am now going to sit in a chair and smile for the rest of the afternoon...and then get ready for the ball.

I had a dream last night that I stood beneath a beautiful orange-pink sky. The man next to me said, “Brother, it’s been a long road.” A woman to my right said, “Yes, but we found a cure for all at the end of it.” They then turned, hugged me, smiled and walked off into the night.

To fix a system that is broken it is not enough to have an idea. You must have a moment where the idea becomes a movement. For my daughters, for my wife, and for all those fighting this is our time--it's now or never. Thank you for helping to make it now. #DareToDream

When this community crossed 10,000 souls you gave me a microphone for this movement. When we crossed 40,000 a bullhorn. So today I have an ask: while I still have the strength to travel, to type, and to dream, will you help us cross 75,000 souls sharing in this journey.

Paradoxically, as my body and my voice fail my words--and this movement--reach more and push us faster towards a cure because of you. Social media, in its best and purest form, was designed to bring us together, to create community to lift us up. You do that for me every day.

I've also seen my daughters grow into amazing young women, who at 4 and 2 give me every motivation to leave no stone unturned in this fight. I tweeted a few nights ago that every night I lay in bed thinking about how to end ALS. Out of the dark, it hit me: the answer is you.

I sometimes wonder if my tweets mask the urgency of our fight. In the 2.5 years since my diagnosis I've gone from being a back country skier who ran a 6 minute mile and gave 2 hour long closing arguments to walking with a cane and struggling for words after a minute. This is ALS.
