    Agreed! At least then, though, we have a "ok, no profits and not great unit economics, but growth" story. While that is risky, here the story is no profits, not great unit economics, and also low growth.

    Daniel. Agree but a low CLV business is risky as you have to rely on heavy growth and the expectation churn/renewals dont deteriorate in the future.

    To the defense of those earlier private investors: the category as a whole was growing much more quickly in early 2019. It was really only over the past 12 months that we've seen a fairly dramatic slowdown in growth (at company and category). Low CLV + low growth = 🤷‍♂️

    Increasingly seems like we are entering a new reality in Unicorn land. If you have raised more than $250mm & are NOT public, the presumption is you are losing WAY too much money, and you probably have shitty unit economics. And probably need to do a lay-off (like Oyo & others).
