I'm not underrepresented anymore. Y'all are over-represented. Not going to use a negative to describe my existence. I'm Bryan, and I'm supposed to be here.

This is a great example of “out of sight, out of mind". Seems like a great hack to get of traffic off _your_ street, but doesn't actually reduce traffic. This is a parallel to MLK's civility over justice quote and something to think about while we celebrate

NPM (the registry) hosts a large part of the JavaScript ecosystem. How is it controlled by a single company and not by a foundation with income and management separated from the commercial venture? (I would love to be wrong here)

The organizers from the 10th anniversary DevOps days sent me a book to remember the event. This is a neat idea and something I will keep forever

Paraphrasing a bit from an earlier conversation today but... Me: Our heroes are dead. Our leaders are criminals. A disease is creeping across the land... ... And we have to look at all this and find the positivity we need to address it.

Great ideas don't always come from the loudest person in the room. They come from the person who saw a potential nugget, nurtured into something understandable, cared, and fed it so it could blossom into something big. Loud people make noise. Determined people make progress.

I saw that tweet saying that 8% of 25 is the same as 25% of 8. Next, I'm going to hear that warm toilet seats are caused by previous occupants and not the TB Fairy.

Multiple times I've considered going out and to raise money and do my own thing. Each and every time, I move past that idea because I don't know what I would do if I encountered a situation where someone passed on me because of my skin color.

We got all these new fangled app technologies, but it is still difficult to deploy these apps. Like anything else it seems easier to invent a universal standard, but perhaps that is too tall an order. Maybe we should simply the solution space.

One thing I like about is that every year they have an internal research conference where people write papers to share new ideas. I have never worked at a place that has this kind of focus. And in 2020 I actually wrote a paper (in two column-hard-to-read-format)

I don’t know about y’all but Kobe Bryant’s death is really hitting me kind of hard. I remember when he hit the draft. I followed him all through his NBA career. This is heart breaking.

If your company thinks low level hiring initiatives changes the status quo, they are about the numbers game. Take a good look at your CxO representation. What makes up your VPs, directors, managers? Focus at this level rather than entry level. Also, simply hiring women is lazy.

We cut a new release of . Next up is more intelligence about workloads, editors!!!, and Octant will be growing from a CLI/web tool to a full blown app on Linux, Windows, and Mac. You shouldn’t have to be an expert to get value out of Kubernetes.

Don't confuse novel solutions for elegant solutions. Novel solutions seem elegant until you change a parameter or two. Then they devolve into that mess you were trying to get away from. Elegant solutions mold themselves to your problem set and can bend to provide value.

Do you need Kubernetes? I can't answer that question but I have ?? as a response: Looking for easy service discovery? Do you prefer declarative configuration? Want to manage workloads across multiple servers? Do you want to constantly reivent the wheel?
