I’m not an alarmist, but I feel America isn’t sufficiently alarmed that the Prez has threatened to create a phony national emergency to circumvent congressional approval and ram through his wholly unnecessary wall. This would be the greatest abuse of power in US history

If Obama ever said this he would have been impeached with a likelihood of conviction. The charges would have been abuse of power & usurpation of Congressional authority

People should be retweeting this☝️ Then acting in real life. Anything they can do. Strikes. Phone calls. Marches. Surrounding the White House. The Trump debacle is way past a joke, not that it was funny to begin with.

I just now heard it on the radio and you are correct. It's the first step to a police state. The armed forces are going to have to decide right now if they are going to follow the Constitution, or the Russian Agent.

Adam Schiff When you push reckless policies that squander our resources, defy our values, leave 800,000 federal workers unpaid and millions of Americans without needed services, you don’t need to declare a national emergency. You are the national emergency.

Gonna repeat this: The people put the Democratic party in control of the House. By overruling the House, the Republican president isn't just shutting down our government. He's shutting down our democracy.

Everything is a test to see how far he can go as an autocrat: the travel ban, the baby cages, the troops at the border before the election, and now this (to name a few). It's the boiling frog scenario. The Nazis didn't start with Dachau and Auschwitz.

If he got away with declaring a national emergency to bring in the military to take land away from citizens to build his wall, why wouldn't he use it everywhere when Congress doesn't agree with him? Total slippery slope.
