Yeah sure I plead guilty to being a data geek who digs deep into stats and worries about probabilistic forecasts: but the fact of the matter is that 4 members of extended family are straight up suffering from post-COVID-infection complications. That's ground truth unambiguous.

By this point, in order not to know somebody with #LongCovid, you really have to be *trying*, like really committing to not noticing, not listening, not trusting

It's good this was done but my 1st department would have had the beat cop assigned to 3rd Ave & their sergeant shepherd this through in 1991.
Quote Tweet
Before you can solve a problem you need to define it. Despite all the rightful concern over 3rd Ave, nobody had ever done the work of building a census of who is there and why. Until now 🧵

Not to toot my own horn but if you're trying to understand what #AI means to your business, read (1) consumers don't know what it is, but they love it + (2) developers do and they are clamoring to work on it: cio.com/article/465285 on

This is a powerful way to look at it: in the US, 26k homicides in 2021, +7k over 2019; 416k COVID deaths in 2021...+416k over 2019

Lots of talk about the increase in violent crime and none about the deadly virus that caused thousands of Canadians to lose their jobs, life savings, housing and killed their family members. Maybe we shouldn't have closed CERB the first second we got.

According to data from Korea and Australia in-hospital transmission has death rates between 8% and 10% By comparison the combat death rate of US Marines in Vietnam was less than 2% In-hospital transmission in WA needs to be 0 and the data needs to be transparent

Well said I grew up in a "Little Italy" neighborhood in the US and could walk to church, school, bakery, restaurants, stores, library, park within 15 minutes...
Quote Tweet
I was born in Italy where, as a Catholic boy, I could walk to the church in my parish in less than 10 minutes. And I could walk to my park, school, friends houses, and lots more. This prejudice and misinformation about 15-minute cities is honestly unbelievable

Imagine if a new thing came along and killed the parents of 10 million children in 3 years. Say aliens invaded, killed us and never stopped. Would we live with them? A pathogen is a malevolent force. We should never accept living with this level of ongoing suffering

As Seattleites we're a bit bummed city council member @TeresaCMosqueda's running for county council but the scourge of exclusionary zoning is countywide & in our view *no one* has done more & better to fight it She deserves support+donations & will still help #rezoneseattle

Gonna put my old police department hat on to comment on this professionally: the job is *not* "using as much force as you can possibly justify," it's "using as little as possible" The comment is s**t but also unprofessional - good cops take (took? :/) pride in de-escalating

People keep saying masks are bad for mental health. But by masking, I know I'm relying on high-level science and fighting misinformation; I'm protecting my family and community; I'm supporting those being pressured to take theirs off. All that is excellent for my mental health.

Here's an idea: if this doesn't pass we'll max out to any Dem who primaries any of them Anyone else want onboard?
Quote Tweet
Dems hold a 3-2 committee majority, so if Lovelett supports it means either Jesse Salomon or Claudia Kauffman are against it and the bill doesn't have the votes. It sure would be nice to know who actually opposes it rather than this "needs more time" nonsense.
