I am ceasing intellectual discussions on social media until March 1, 2021. I will continue blogging and promoting my own work, but will not engage until then. Here's why:

That's 98% propaganda. In practice, "the workers rule"="socialist intellectuals I like rule." There have been a few syndicalist experiments where unions actually took over control of their firms, but that's about it.

All communists are socialists, but most socialists are not communists. The terminology was fuzzy until c.1920 when Lenin made a big "Are you with us or against us?" ultimatum to the broader movement, leading to splits in every major socialist organization.

Great old post: "Solving the problems of divorce and unwed motherhood is hard. And lots of Republican and conservative voters have been divorced. Far better to pick on a small group and blame them for social breakdown and its associated costs."

"If you’re concerned about the plight of the world’s poor, this is a serious rhetorical error. Why? Because negative rights have broader appeal than positive rights—especially on an international level."

It's hardly "picky." Some of the rhetoric is similar, but self-identified communists were true believers who murdered tens of millions of innocents to create dystopias. Non-communist socialists stifled economic growth and human freedom, but they were nowhere near as bad.

Socialism isn't complicated. Listening to the podcast on dress up socialism w/ moral language clouds the issue. Socialists are just tribal. They are the same as the villagers filled w envy in this classic post by

It’s been over 200 years since David Ricardo’s writings, and mercantilism still remains insanely popular. Vaccines are obviously beneficial, and millions are terrified of them. Humans are not notably good at thinking, and especially not at learning or evaluating evidence.

The biggest issue with this strategy is that the pivot away from the primary prob and toward the public choice prob necessitates that you are no longer working on the PP. The PP drifts into the ether as the staid rallying cry while you tinker with your new plan for its own sake.

If the only way you can get your great idea implemented is to mutilate it and/or package it with a pile of expensive junk, you really should wonder, “Is it still worth it?” Well, is it?
