I totally believe we should teach our children personal responsibility but WTH is he talking about? Our children should be allowed to be children & it is OUR job as adults to protect them!

I think his point, watching the clip now, is that far more lives would be saved by giving CPR classes than initiating gun reform. He has the communication skills of a brick so it's hard to tell.

I don't think those two things are mutually exclusive.

Also it's completely wrong. CPR is not going to help anybody who as been shot. A better thing to teach would be just general First Aid since that goes over slowing the blood flow. But even then making it much harder for people to get guns would mean that wouldn't be needed anyway

Just not going to America in the first place should help, apologies if you live there already.

So much wrong with @RickSantorum's statement: 1) It's not "their problem;" it's all of our problem. 2) They're not asking "someone else to solve their problems." They're asking their elected reps to represent the will & interests of their constituents over the @NRA.

Rick Santorum should seriously just shut the fuck up. He loves babies right up until they’re born, then he’s only concerned about them if they encounter trans people in a bathroom or gay married people. But mowing them down with AR-15s? Sure, if that’s the cost of keeping guns.

Im a nurse and how do you equate this to CPR? What would that exactly do? So what he REALLY means is "do something else that doesn't bother me."

I think what he means is to learn something useful and to depend upon themselves.

I know CPR is useful. But if i am drowning in the middle of the sea I would prefer you to give me a lifesaver, not to teach me to start a fire. Specially since if I stop swiming 'cause I try to start a fire in the middle of the ocean I would probably die faster.

I know CPR, how to stop a bleed and how to package a patient for transport. I also know how to train a dog to find dead people or lost people. I also know how to play a piano and learning to play a pan flute. Just DO something.

It's great.I would love to know those things too.But kids can do both.Point is they are asking for a specific urgent solution and instead of helping he starts to talk about something else that won't help them in that situation.Not sure how know CPR could help with a AR-15 wound.

He was using it as an example of finding a skill. He could have used learning how to type or learning to sing or becoming an artist. It was just an example

You know kids can do more than one thing at once. They can learn CPR and make a fight for what they believe
