Go ahead partisans & criticize Bruce for asking valid questions, but many of us that don't marry a political party for life want answers to those questions. If Scheer does nothing but throw twitter tantrums I won't vote for him & I'm a person who would if he focused on solutions

Strong, sensible political parties with well developed ideas and platforms only strengthen Canada. It helps us all vote “ for” and not merely “ against “.
@CPC_HQ lack of substance doesn’t just hurt itself. -
I couldn't agree more. Where is the effective opposition. It's critical to our democracy when all parties are kept in check and offer their solutions to problems. Anger solves nothing. Neither does lies.
-
Nobody should marry a political party for life! Offering unconditional support for any specific party is probably more damaging to the health of our democracy than not voting at all.
-
Where I grew up in southwest Saskatchewan there are generations of people that have never changed their vote. People treat voting like cheering on their favourite hockey team. It solved nothing
-
I’m from the states- land of party loyalty to the point of insanity. Partisanship over platform begets Trumpism.
-
The election of Trump illustrates why not only voters but also politicians should be willing to abandon a party. Horrible things become real possibilities when enough people feel so invested in a political party that they can't ever muster the courage to leave it.

Well said.

this is pure Andy 24/7 bulltweet. Carbon tax is doing grand in BC and all businesses are coming on board - he is doing what he does fudge reports and lie - end of story
-
#CarbonTax works very well in BC. Business Council of BC says our economy continues to expand. World bank says the carbon tax has been effective & did not harm economic growth. It has led to the lowest income tax rates in Canada.@AndrewScheer@CPC_HQ@onepersuades#ScheerLiespic.twitter.com/YI1wSZ2GNJ

The UN IPCC believes its 1.5 degree target is impossible and Climate Economists say carbon tax "solutions" are ludicrously expensive and do more harm than good. Cheaper to adapt. Better for the environment too.https://www.econlib.org/library/Columns/y2018/MurphyNordhaus.html …
-
"Nordhaus subscribes to the standard view that greenhouse gas emissions from human activities constitute a negative externality and, therefore, recommends that the governments of the world implement a carbon tax". Ummmm....

He, (or whoever runs the twitter account) is simply pandering to a fact adverse base.

They keep tweeting focus group irritants rather than actual policy. Plus they keep using the word failure to brainwash and word-associate. Hamish's high school social engineering is easily spotted.

A carbon tax today amounts to us paying a tax to pee less in our corner of the pool while China, India and the developing world take a big dump in the middle of it. Doesn't make is better to drink. Show me any science that demonstrates these actions contribute anything?
-
Bad take. Canada produces 2% of world emissions. We are 0.5% of world population. We're punching above our weight by 300%. If we can't work to bring emissions down, neither will China or India - they'll point and laugh.
-
We are a cold vast, sparsely populated natural resource nation. Much of our energy demand is built in. Only major tech breakthrough and trillions in infrastructure spending will change that. China and India have Costa Rica to look to for inspiration. We don't inspire them.
-
Now do Sweden.

Oh sure, it's *easy* to be a global leader in green tech when you live in the balmy, tropical Eden that is Oslo.https://www.dw.com/en/oslo-starts-2019-as-europes-eco-capital/a-46786866 …

88% of Norway's energy is produced by Hydro. Other renewables are 3.3%. And Norwegians use 5x more energy than the European average. Are we prepared to flood millions of square miles to create new Hydro projects necessary to power Canada?https://www.worlddata.info/europe/norway/energy-consumption.php …
-
* Dude complains Canada's cold climate makes fossil fuel a necessity. * Dude proven wrong by Norwegian example. * Dude complains Canada's abundant hydroelectric potential makes fossil fuel a necessity. Well, I can see a pattern. And it's boring.
