Staff retiring deleted all 120,000+ of his emails and printed them all out, amounts to 200,000 pages. With 500 pages a ream, 400 reams is still sitting somewhere, probably untouched. - Drin Gyuk

Thank you for sharing your experiences with dealing with absurd amounts of email archives. Now I'm thinking about what's required to fully preserve the content and metadata

Formats for how NZ government emails are supplied to sound like a disaster. Very rarely supplied in original format - usually EDRMS exports with txt, rtf, htm, doc extensions. So why not set and require a proper standard on this?

Sadly epadd software needs further development before it can handle government-scale email archives (as opposed to individual’s emails), so unable to assist - beyond lexicon creation - with searching government agency archives for responding to requests.
