more on this. if you have a ton of ideas and you can't give any of them up, you *won't* find a reliable place to store them. everything will collapse eventually. that's why I'm suspicious about Roam. for many people it's probably "a better crutch", but still a crutch.https://twitter.com/anushkapathak/status/1243586721582907394 …

I think throwing ideas at people could be *qualitatively* better than writing them down somewhere, even if this "somewhere" is awesome. hence this Twitter.

if your mental model is "I write things down, then I think about them, then they are done", it's scary to give up personal wikis and so on. you have to get punched in the face by the painful fact that you figured out more things in an hour of tweeting than in a week of thinking.

feels v related to storing notes as "todos" "I'll totally get around to using this at some point" -> "i can't do everything, but with notes i can pretend i will!"

"with notes I can pretend I will" is a coping mechanism for me. it works for reducing stress - put all tabs into a list and forget about it, etc. a good idea if you're feeling super bad. but doesn't address the underlying thing
