Secular people have a humility problem. When you're deeply religious, you know your knowledge & sensemaking is imperfect. You have an intuition that while truth can be known, humans are deeply fallible in their quest for understanding.

I'm so glad to see this expressed somewhere. religious folks have a good relationship with the infinite. Bach's dedications to the glory of God. Reminds me of the muse, you don't identify with the source of your creations. you were present and listened, but it came through you.

It also means that you don't set out to build the tower of Babel. You can't make a prefect & complete system. It's a disservice to reality. In all its patterned yet nebulous glory.pic.twitter.com/sA5yfbkE3D
