Twitter: What are your favorite strategies for creating meaningful moments of celebration for yourself or loved ones?
(I'm terrible at this! I suspect I'm missing opportunities to amplify big moments in my/friends' lives)

Yes! Personalization, context, and detail are elements I look for. Many, actually. (1) short-story/poem/essay/riff etc dedicated to them on a topic of their interest, with details that might be little winks at past convos, or idiosyncrasies — privately published only to them;

(2) unique craft: bake; cook; paint; sing; music — learn to play their fav notes — even if awkward; (3) wish fulfillment: plan and execute an ordinary but novel experience they’ve never done before but have been meaning to “someday” (eg. ride a scooter; meet a magician etc)

(4) oot: throw a party but make sure to have one element that’s OOT (eg. ridiculously huge cake; a huge piñata etc); (5) lol don’t recommend it, but did it: buy & coordinate with seller to deliver a kitten in straw basket with a bow on top; have them guess sender on group chat.

(6) Lastly, I think there’s a category of things people enjoyed that were last-minute improvisations. Like when I got someone’s favorite cake but realized it was very plain, not in an understated, elegant way, but closer to neglect+apathy.
