quiet your internal monologue, censor all verbal thoughts. try not to be to violent, if you say or hear something, let it go. see what the world looks like without commentary.

focus all your attention on one point, say your upper lip. using your peripheral eyesight "muscles" become aware of the sensations and things happening around you. "be what knows the arising"

lay still. lying on my back, hands on my chest. not moving anything really widens my awareness. I focus on the sounds around me and my bodily sensations. the quality of the world changes. maybe this is the bodily equivalent of keeping stable attention on the breath.
