I want a tag based file system, not a directory based one. I need to organize things by project, by type (finance, work, etc), and by time. There's no hierarchy that works clearly.
reminds me of the late Joe Armstrong's idea of: everything in one folder & you use the hash of the file as it's file name. and then search to find anything. do you macos? I think there's a tag system for the finder, might be able to custom label it.

I use primarily Linux, but also Mac and Windows for client projects. Having a system that works with those, and Dropbox, would be awesome. But only Linux would be fine as well.
