I don't personally believe that very many actively choose to play those ladders, especially WoL. I play WoL sometimes and HotS a bit. Seems most are there because they can't buy LotV for whatever reason, or don't want to spend the $. Less confusing for new users too.
Even if it's only a minority of hots and wol, that's a lot of players - hots plus wol ladder players are 1/7 the playerbase. And even if it's not an active choice, why force migrate to a version that plays out way differently?

i think they are doing that to gain new players and don't mind losing wol and hots player who will likely won't be buying any skins .. etc unlike new players on lotv who might do

Sure all the WoL and HotS players might add up to 1/7th the playerbase, but like I said, I don't believe any sort of majority of that 1/7th is willingly playing older expacs and would be against playing the same ladder as the 6/7ths.

I'm not in love with losing WoL/HotS ladder. Like I said, I use them sometimes myself. But pragmatically I understand why this is a good choice.

From what I remember it's more of a push to stop having everyone confused about all these different versions of the game.
