To my understanding yep, with ladder going f2p, everyone will be on the same edition. No more choosing expansion level and laddering there. Only way to do it that makes sense imo, considering HotS and LotV campaign are still for purchase.
hmmm I'm confused as how it's good, both wol and hots are still popular and presumably lots of their players specifically choose them over lotv

I don't personally believe that very many actively choose to play those ladders, especially WoL. I play WoL sometimes and HotS a bit. Seems most are there because they can't buy LotV for whatever reason, or don't want to spend the $. Less confusing for new users too.

Even if it's only a minority of hots and wol, that's a lot of players - hots plus wol ladder players are 1/7 the playerbase. And even if it's not an active choice, why force migrate to a version that plays out way differently?
