So it makes sense that a big focus for the article was having a clear story instead of new world champ every week
I thought in previous years it was mostly Koreans winning WCS events regardless of location? Or am I mistaken?

It was but there was NASL, MLG, IPL, GSL, Dreamhack all crowning "World Champions" every weekend for ~a year.

Got old and was really convoluted looking from the outside in. So much travel the winner 1 weekend lost ro32 next
