It'd be hard to convince me that the way Blizzard is dropping the ball with StarCraft - e.g. excluding it from the Blizzcon recap - is aligned with either the company's short-term or long-term interests. And I definitely don't understand how it creates shareholder value.

Yeah, I mean, you're right, it's probably just a careless oversight. But I'm wondering whether it and other missteps are the natural consequences of the strategic decision to "focus", which changes people's incentives and how they evaluate their own work.

Eg if you or I were to make a recap video, how would we do it? Well, we'd probably see what each Blizz game did at Blizzcon, and add a clip. Right? It's simple. What incentive structure causes people to say, I've done a good job so long as I don't forget about OW, Diablo and HS?
