I'm really surprised the "Blizzard has lost all interest in StarCraft" story got 3k+ upvotes on Reddit and even spawned a bunch of articles. It's not based on anything. Just wanted to tweet this more broadly so more folks are aware. /Thread
StarCraft hasn't been explicitly mentioned in Blizzard's earnings reports for years. The StarCraft team hasn't been hiring sizable numbers of people for years. None of this is news. It is public, well-known information.
Read what they said: "Across N franchises, we are expanding our development teams." Why would anyone expect StarCraft to be in that list? *They told us directly at the public Blizzcon panel* that they are focused on coop, not new single-player content.
None of this is surprising. In fact, it would be news if they did mention StarCraft in that sentence!
