Stagnant wages, high structural unemployment, huge education-related debt, rising housing prices and unimaginable health-related expenses cause prudent/thoughtful people to not have kids or severely constrain family size. It’s not a huge intellectual leap to figure this out.
The projected US population growth of 7.1% between 2010-20 is lower than any prior decade, including the Great Depression years, when the nation registered 7.3% growth.
